A Retrospective

It all started one day, seven years ago, with a phone call from my social worker. "There's a baby up at the hospital.  I don't know anything yet, I'm on my way up there right now but I'm pretty sure this baby needs a mama. Can you be this baby's mama?"  Why Yes.
Yes I can.
Please.
Oh Please Please Please Please Please!
And then I went into the nursery at the hospital and this little baby boy was placed in my arms.
And my wishes came true. And I became a mom.
To this little guy....      isn't he cute?

We had a lot of fun together...
When Theo was one, we had fun in the sun and the snow.... we visited our Minnesota cabin and took nice long doggie walks in the mountains around our town. We grew.

When Theo was two we camped up the Oregon coast (playing in the great big sandbox) and went skiing...

And Theo became a big brother, overnight (such is the way with adoption).   From the very first second that Theo met his sister, he has loved her. Although a bit confused at HOW a baby came into our lives "Mama went to the grocery store and bought a baby for me.", Theo loved Adi from the beginning...

When Theo turned three, his enthusiasm for life was contagious. I always loved this picture of my three year old boy. I think it shows his personality so perfectly....
At four, Theo and his best friend became enthralled with BUZZ LIGHTYEAR.  And other superheros. One time, Theo jumped off of a large brick wall and, after landing and rolled, stood up and said, "Look Mom, I didn't even break my wing (arm)."  I was constantly telling Theo to stop jumping off of things or he would break a leg. or arm. or wing. or whatever.  He never did stop jumping, but he has never broken a leg (yet) either....

When Theo turned six, it snowed on his birthday. Boy was he excited!  Theo loves winter... and summer. And most anything outdoors where he can run, shout, jump and play.
At six, Theo still loves the outdoors, is loving (most of the time) towards his sister and loves his dog, Jenny.
My boy turned seven today. It's gone by so fast. Full of great times, some worry and anguish, happy times and sad times. It's been an adventure. And I am so lucky to be sharing it...

Happy Birthday Theo. Mommy loves you, so very much. Thank-you for making my life so full.
