Truck Painting

Our town is under siege by road construction. The main road through town is being repaved, and traffic is being diverted, rerouted and delayed. Everyone is grumbling about the chaos, added time to busy schedules and common courtesy to fellow drivers. Everyone, that is, except the children. They love seeing the big machines tearing up the roads and making new roads. They love the noise, the crowds...the BIG TRUCKS. In celebration, we've been playing with trucks. I added dirt to the sensory tub and added trucks. The sandbox has been a bustle of road construction activity. We've drawn roads on paper. And, today, we painted with truck tires. Here's how to do truck painting:

Pour paint into a tray, we used the three primary colors (Red, Yellow and Blue) to encourage color mixing.

Add small cars and trucks, look for cars that have interesting tire tracks.

Paint away.

Sound effects are helpful.

  5. Looks like the kids surely enjoyed this activity! I think it would also be great to take the kids to see how a real big truck is painted before their very eyes!
